Extraordinary Strength for an Extraordinary Season

extraordinaryIt was the summer of 2003, my husband had just returned from an amazing IPMC conference. His first Sunday back, he preached a victorious message that filled the church with joy, repentance and God's balm of healing.

That night he rolled in bed in agony, sweat pouring forth like showers of rain, his face turning pale as a ghost. Within hours he was hospitalized and diagnosed with leukemia. It was a shock to all - myself in particular. Pastor Demola called him while in hospital and reminded him of God's promise of healing and declared him whole. Words cannot describe what that brief phone call did to Xenophon. His spirit man arose and he determined to conquer and turn his valley into heights of strength and altars of deep worship.

There are moments in life that storm in like hurricane Katrina. Those are moments when you look at yourself and discover what you are made of, who you are and what you truly believe. When those times batter your life, you realize it will take an extraordinary person to endure an extraordinary season.

A godly woman is one of a kind! She can be a unique and absolutely magnificent individual only when she finds herself in Christ Who gives her worth and value. There are things in life that only a woman is designed to accomplish. This does not make her better than a man, she is just wired in a way that a man is not. Only a woman can give birth. She is naturally designed to nurture. She has an eye and a feel for the needs of her young ones. With one look she has diagnosed her offspring's welfare and brought order, healing, security to the situation. Women are life givers. Their nurturing nature is not limited to their own offspring, but reaches to a whole community and even to a nation. She has the ability to create a delightful atmosphere of peace and joy; she creates a place of rest and worship in the presence of her Lord and Saviour. She has a way of bringing stability, direction, beauty to the life of her man without saying much. As a wife and mother, she makes it her goal in life to make sure that her husband and children excel and reach their destiny. As a result, she becomes fulfilled and reaches her own potential. She is a woman that understands the value of laying down her life as her Master did. Her speech is filled with wisdom and grace whether directed to her children, dignitaries, her husband or her hurting girlfriend. She is addicted to loving people, to promoting and developing their lives in ways that express the love of God.

She is a woman who has learnt to take the Word of her Lord as the highest reality. She has chosen to be clay in His hands - to be beautifully and wonderfully molded in His image in the heat and pressures that life would thrust at her. She has a special concern for and sense of the happenings in God's Kingdom and understands when and how to share the treasures fashioned in her. She understands the times and seasons.

She does not have the need to be recognized as a preacher, successful career woman or an amazing mom or wife. She has established her confidence in Him. She has chosen to develop herself in Him, becoming the shining light her world needs her to be.

Woman of God, if you chose to allow the Master to fashion you into a masterpiece you are one of a kind, the one and only you, His masterpiece.

Is. 58:8,10,11 Amp. 'then shall your light break forth like the morning, and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life) shall spring forth speedily , your righteousness (your rightness, your justice, and your right relationship with God) shall go before you (conducting you to peace and prosperity) and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday. And the Lord shall guide you continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not."

My husband, Xenophon is doing amazingly well. Doctors are excited about his progress. Xenophon considered himself whole and healed the minute Pastor Demola declared him whole on the phone. For my part, I am a different woman, a fighter, a worshipper, a woman of increasing compassion for the lost and for the saints.
